Unexpected Encounters ~ Sasquatch Sightings in North America
According to the journal entries of explorers, accounts of citizens, and legends of the first nation’s peoples, something is wandering the forests and mountains of western North America. Hundreds of eyewitness reports of giant bipedal animals have originated from the mountains and forests of the western United States and Canada. Having grown up in southern BC, I have heard of these legends first hand and as a result have always been fascinated in the topic.
I thought it would be intriguing to have a thematic map of the reported encounters, regardless of their nature. I began with a map depicting western North America which includes the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia and the US states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Later on I developed a map of just California and the sighting within that state alone including the famed Roger Patterson film location.
