Posts and Forts of the Canadian Fur Trade 1600-1870

As a result of the research and subsequent paper on Fort and Post Geography, the data collected in the database was utilized in the development of a map depicting the establishment of fur trade forts and posts between 1600 and 1870 through out North America. The map shown below labels all forts that have a known location either by archeological record or through precise descriptions. All other posts and forts have a gray symbol to show its location.
