There seems to be much perplexity concerning the accuracy (and perceived inaccuracies) of Thompson’s surveys and mapping. I am intermittently in the procecess of writing a paper clarifying the subject...

Detail Study of the Lost Maps:
Currently located various location, are various maps created by David Thompson; one of which is a copy created by Thompson of the 1814 map. I have deemed these documents “the lost maps” because after only the briefest review I feel that there is so much more we could learn from them about Thompson and the landscape he explored. It may not be soon, but at some point this paper must and will be written....

Similar in design to the David Thompson Map Series, this thematic map will highlight Fidler's travels with an itinerary, way points and 3D terrain. I am currently completing research on the exact routes taken by Fidler...

An affordable book of Alberta's more poular recreational rivers. I had started with the idea of an individual book for each river and have redesigned the concept into one encomassing book. Research is being carried out this summer in thehopes that it will be available by the spring of 2011...

Projects

David Thompson and Peter Fidler Monument:
I strongly believe that a monument to these two great surveyors needs to be created. It is not enough to simply have a plaque on the side of a road. A monument is the only way to invoke the curiosity of the passerby, enticing them to stop and learn about these great men and their astonishing contributions to Canada as we know it...
